The White Lodge, an
elegant Edwardian style country house, has a perfect and peaceful
position, looking down on Alfriston, one of the prettiest villages
in the Sussex Downs. Built in 1905 by the disgraced MP and financier
Horatio Bottomley. It stands in five acres of well tended grounds,
surrounded by the beautiful countryside. White Lodge has been
skillfully modernised whilst retaining its olde worlde charm.
The handsome bedrooms, some with balconies, have magnificent views
over the Downs. The residents lounges are relaxing, with delightful
furnishings, tall windows and tranquil atmosphere. For those more
active there is our Games room for your enjoyment. Guests can
mingle in the bar or lounges before dining in splendour in the
Orchid Restaurant. Glyndebourne Opera House is only 20 minutes
away. The area abounds with famous golf courses, castles and gardens.
Brighton and Eastbourne are nearby and France is about 2 and 4
hours away via the Newhaven ferry....
